Larry Sousa

A nationally recognized Director/Choreographer, Larry Sousa’s work has appeared on the stages of the Pasadena Playhouse, The Joyce Theatre, Garry Marshall’s Falcon Theatre, Goodspeed Musicals, The New York Fringe Festival, Coronet Theatre in Hollywood, Coconut Grove Playhouse, Utah Musical Theatre and many more. Upcoming, Larry will choreograph the Broadway-bound musical Merry Go Round written by the composers of Mary Poppins, and he will direct the new musical Anybody Can Do Anything in a developmental reading for 5th Avenue Theatre in Seattle.

In Boston, Larry’s work has been presented at Speakeasy Stage, Reagle Music Theatre, Boston Children’s Theatre, The Boston Gay Men’s Chorus and many more. Larry is the recipient of the prestigious Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award, the L.A. Ovation Award, the Garland Award, the OnStage Critics Award, two IRNE Awards and six TAMY awards. He is an NAACP Theatre Award and Los Angeles Weekly Theatre Award nominee, and a two- time winner of the American Dance Awards Choreographer of the Year prize. Larry has performed in numerous Broadway companies, TV sitcoms and commercials, and he has designed scenery, lighting, and multimedia projections for more than 70 professional productions. Larry teaches at The Boston Conservatory, Bridgewater State University, and he is an alumnus and longtime faculty member of The Gold School/Project Moves Dance Company. He is a frequent contributor to Dance Studio Life magazine, and has served as a “Special Awards” judge at respected dance competitions for over 20 years. Larry holds a BFA in theatre from Ithaca College, and pursued a unique interdisciplinary MFA in theatre at the University of California at Irvine. Learn more about Larry at www.larrysousa.com
